Healing the Children - Southwest Chapter (HTCSW) is one of 12 chapters of National Healing the Children in the United States. We are located in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a non-profit organization, with a 501(c) 3 IRS status. Please see us on Guidestar.
The mission of HTCSW is to provide health care to children in New Mexico and around the world who are unable to receive the care either due to lack of services or financial resources.
Since 1989 Healing the Children Southwest has supported three major programs
- Hardship Relief Project - for children in New Mexico (formerly "Local Children Program")
- International Pediatric Surgical and Medical Trips - Latin America
- International Inbound Children who come to Albuquerque from around the world

We rely on donations from friends and corporate supporters, grants, Combined Federal Campaign, United Way, small fundraisers, Goodsearch, and others. Less than 5% of money raised goes to administrative costs.
Healing the Children (SW) is operated exclusively with volunteers. Local New Mexico businesses give discounts for the Hardship Relief Project and the coordinator is a volunteer. Medical personnel and the trip administrator pay for 100% of their expenses for surgical and medical missions and about 60 percent of operating room and medical supplies are donated. Host families are given funds to help purchase medicine and clothing when they care for international children; we tap mileage programs for air fares and Airline Ambassadors helps escort children. All administrative functions are handled by volunteers. Healing the Children SW pays a small stipend for bookkeeping, clerical support, and car transportation.
Please note that HTCSW does not have an office. Volunteers work from home. The mailing address is below. To contact by phone the number is 505 228-1404
